Band History
The Washington DC Regional Police Pipe Band was formed in
September, 2003 by Pipe Major Ken Campbell and Pipe Sergeant
Chris Jackson.  Meetings have been held on Tuesday nights at the
Washington DC Lodge 1 of the Fraternal Order of Police ever since.
Starting with a handful of enthusiastic, but inexperienced pipers, the
band has slowly attracted members from law enforcement agencies
throughout the region.

The ranks have swelled to the point that the band currently boasts 28
members representing 12 of the region’s law enforcement agencies.
To date, members of the band have performed at small venues as mini-
bands and solo performances.  Since its inception, the band has
provided ceremonial piping support at line of duty funerals, memorial
services for police officers, awards ceremonies.  Given the band’s
location in the National Capitol Region, it’s members have been
afforded the opportunity to perform at several unique events, such as:
The Top Cops Awards Ceremony, the Police Week Law Ride and other
events at the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial (NLEOM),
911 remembrances at the Pentagon and the NLEOM, and the Blue
Mass.

The band made its official debut at the 2005 Washington, DC St.
Patrick's Day Parade, winning the trophy for "Best Pipe Band".  Not a
bad debut.

Each year seems more exciting as than the last.  The band actively
competes against other bands in the Grade V category at highland
throughout the region.

2007 saw the band winning it's first Grade V competition by placing first
at the Williamsburg, Virginia games.

2008 has brought a change of leadership as Ken Campbell has
decided to take a break from the duties of serving as the band's Pipe
Major.  Chris Jackson was elected as the Pipe Major and Garrett
McKenzie was elected as Pipe Sergeant.
